Join THE Club! The Market Club.

Yes, it is a New Year but I am not here to get you to join one of THOSE clubs, ties to New Year resolutions or anything like that.

I am hear to tell you about one of my all time favorite breakfast and lunch places in The Big Tomato.

The Market Club is a very unassuming, hidden treasure located in the center of the historic Sacramento Produce Market.

You will have a tough time finding it - you have to head south on 5th Street from Broadway.  You turn right into the second driveway of the fenced produce market. You go along the loading dock and half way down, you will find, up on the loading dock, the barely signed entrance to The Market Club.

DON'T park in front of any of the ramps or in front of the loading dock. Park in the spots marked along the back of the opposite building.  This is a working produce market and there are lots of trucks (including 18-wheelers) navigating in and out of here. The ramps are used by fast moving fork lifts and you have to keep a heads up going in and out.

The Market Club is CLOSED on SATURDAYS! This is a great place to head before you go over to the Farmer's Market on Sundays, and it is open most weekdays (although I have arrived to find a "Gone fishing" sign, and they really do go fishing...).

There are some great egg dishes, French Toast, pancakes and all the good things that make breakfasts special.  Lunches are also a real treat and there are set specials for each day - may favorite is Broasted Chicken day). When is it? - you have to get off your duff and go find out mate! The dining room is unassuming but always welcoming. The Market Club has a fabulous counter to sit at too!
